Heartland Consumers Power District was created in 1969 under the Consumers Power District’s Law. Our power company is headquartered in Madison, South Dakota but serves municipalities across eastern South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa as well as several state institutions.

Our Board of Directors consists of ten elected members, with each member representing a designated district within the Heartland service territories. Because this Board functions in the best interest of our customers, we’re able to focus on low costs and superior transmission systems to our wholesale municipal partners.

Thanks to progressive leadership and a united vision, Heartland is poised to move in new and exciting directions for the benefit of all those we serve.
