Heartland understands that our Customers have an on-going need to have someone that can answer questions or provide assistance with the operation, maintenance, and repair of their electric systems.  To answer that call, Heartland has retained the services of James "Jim" Mergen as a Customer Services Technical Consultant.

Customers can reach Jim via phone (605-940-5666) or email (jrmergen@juno.com).

Mergen is well known among the municipality industry in South Dakota, having first began working for the City of Sioux Falls Municipal Light and Power Department in 1971 as a lineman.  In 1977 he was appointed Line Supervisor and promoted to Superintendent in 1995, and finally retired from the City in 2003.

Jim has always been active within the industry and has served on the South Dakota Electrical Contractors (SDEC) board for seven years.  Mergen worked for SDEC for 30 years, Joint Utility Training School for 20 years, and the South Dakota Municipal Electric Association for 30 years.
