- Heartland will work with our business partners and our Customers to intensify efforts to make reductions in greenhouse gas emissions while continuing to provide safe, reliable and reasonably priced energy service.
- Heartland will base all greenhouse gas reduction strategies on sound science, objective engineering and best available economic information.
- Heartland will support science-based education on climate change, its causes and how consumer choices can achieve efficient use of energy and make a positive impact on climate change.
- Heartland will support public policies and initiatives to accelerate the development and implementation of cost effective strategies for:
- Demand-side management
- Energy efficiency programs for both our Customers and Heartland's own operations
- Lowest possible emissions generation technologies at both existing and new projects
- Renewable energy resources
- Significant increases in public and private investment in research and development technology to limit greenhouse emissions
- Heartland will support public policies and initiatives that encourage early actions and investments made to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
- Heartland will support public policies and initiatives that recognize and mitigate possible extreme financial consequences that might result from the imposition of greenhouse gas regulations.
- Heartland will support compliance timelines for greenhouse gas reductions consistent with the expected development and commercialization of technology solutions.
