Position Opening:

Operations Summer Intern

Heartland Consumers Power District is accepting applications for the position of Operations Summer Intern. The successful candidate will receive hands on experience in the power industry.

Heartland's summer internship is being offered to provide a student the opportunity to advance their knowledge and understanding of the wholesale power industry. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of a wholesale utility given Heartland owns generation, procures transmission resources, and serves load. Integrated Marketplaces (IM) and small-scale renewable generation are two efforts changing the power industry today. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about how IM's function as well as study the role renewable generation plays in the industry. An understanding of these topics can open up many opportunities post-graduation. Among other things, this internship will help Heartland develop a set of calculators to understand renewable (primarily solar) generation's cost, value, and benefit to Heartland, it's wholesale customers, and the end-user. These calculators would be developed to share with each interested party.
